Our rescue strays, copper & lily, that came up just a few months after opening!
Lily, a white boxer mix, was 9 months at the time and pregnant. Because she was so malnourished and underweight, the vet wasn't sure at first that she could be pregnant..Adopted by one of our Copper Lily friends, Lily was soon welcomed into a new home, where she was fed and well taken care of. After several visits to the vets office and finally being cleared of heartworms, Lily gave birth to a healthy litter of 11 puppies. Each puppy was then lovingly adopted by their new pack leaders and off to their new homes! One of Lily's puppies was adopted by Lily's mom's mother too..whew... so now, Lily and one of her puppies still get to visit each other from time to time!
Copper, approximately 3 yrs old & a black Shar pei mix, had just given birth to a litter a few months before... Also underweight, malnourished & flea ridden, etc..., Copper was quickly adopted by Laura Barnes, our owner, where she found a new home and a new pack to run with! When Copper first came to us, it's like the light in her eyes was lost... You could tell she was sad and empty inside, for her puppies..a life of troubles...who could really say? Even though the light in her eyes was dimmed at the moment, the love in her heart still shinned brighter than the brightest star! And now, the light in her eyes is back and brighter than ever!
(Copper, pictured far left)
Full of Love and Kisses, both Copper & Lily will, from now on, have a safe place and a family they can call their very own.
